Symbols in Native Jewelry

When we view a beautiful image our mind is fills with the pictures and symbols used within that piece of art.  Whether it be the, “Mona Lisa” from the hands of Lenardo di Vinci or the murales that are created within caves, or carved into rock by the Native groups of this planet it all represents something.  To some they may simply be art work but to others they can be fascinating stories that explain their own heritage or those of another group.

In the case of the Native Americans they used images to represent certain attributes or ways of life.  For example they may have drawn a teepee which would represent a temporary home or perhaps an arrow to represent protection.  By doing so they could leave behind stories just like the Egyptions and their hieroglyphics.  Though they may seem simple to many to those who can read and understand the drawings it gives information of a live past.  Just as they once did, Native American artists still use these symbols in their creation of Native jewelry today.
